Aloo masala fry

Aloo/potato is one of my favorite veggie, when my MIL made this masala fry recipe, I had it as a snack 🙂 . She add leftover idlis instead of potatoes for breakfast , it’s really tasty….. Soon will post that recipe too.

Let’s see the ingredients and method to make this yummy fry.

Masala Fry Ingredients:-

Dry roast & grind:-

Chana dal2 tbsp
Urad dal2 tbsp
Coriander seeds1 tbsp
Pepper corns½ tbsp
Cumin1 tbsp
Dry chilies3-4
Fresh coconut¼
Turmeric¼ th tsp

Dry roast the above ingredients, except coconut & turmeric, add the roasted ingredients in the mixer jar, add the coconut and turmeric and ground it into fine paste by adding sufficient water and keep it aside.

Oil2 tbsp
mustard seeds½ tsp
Hingpinch
Potato500 grams
Onion3 large
Saltas per your taste

 

Cook the potatoes in the pressure cooker for 5-7 whistles. Place a wide pan / kadai on a medium flame, add the oil, once the oil is hot enough, add the mustard seeds, hing and curry leaves. Once the mustard seeds starts to sizzle, add the sliced onions, Fry till they are slightly golden. Now add the cooked and peeled potatoes, fry till they are golden. Now add the ground masala and salt as per your taste, sprinkle some water if the masala stick to the pan ( if you use non-stick pan, you don’t need to add water) fry well till the masala coats each potato pieces. Now serve it hot with plain rice / curd rice.
