Giraffe patch bread is quite famous on Pinterest. Few days back I found this recipe, that I saved in YouTube and tried it. It’s really fun to play with bread. The YouTube link is in below, do check her. I made few changes here and there, to achieve the brown color I used cocoa powder but you can use food color too. If you are using cocoa powder try it with sweetened cocoa powder, I used unsweetened cocoa powder, it was nice but personally I feel little after taste from the cocoa powder.
Let’s see the procedure,
[recipe title=”Giraffe patch bread” servings=”4-5″ time=”120mins” difficulty=”medium”]
Ingredients:-
All purpose flour / Maida | 2 ½ cups |
Milk | 1 cup |
Yeast | 2 ¼th tsp |
Salt | ½ tsp |
Melted butter | 1½ tbsp |
Sugar | 3 tbsp |
Cocoa powder | 1½ tbsp |
Milk | 3 tsp |
Procedure:-
In a large bowl add the 1 cup warm milk followed by yeast and sugar, cover the bowl and let it sit for 10 minutes.
Once the yeast mixture is nicely bubbled up, add the flour, salt and melted butter and mix it well with the hand blender till it’s well combined.
Now transfer the dough to the workspace and knead the dough for 10 minutes, until soft and elastic.
Divide the dough into two equal parts, take one part of the dough and place it into the greased bowl, cover it and let it rise.
To the other part of the dough add 3 tsp of milk and cocoa powder and knead it well ( as shown in the pictorial).
Place the cocoa dough in another greased bowl, cover it let it rise for 1 hour or doubled in size.
Now take the white dough and divide the into 4 balls, make sure that one ball should be slightly bigger.
Repeat the same with the cocoa dough, keep the balls aside.
Take one ball from the cocoa dough and roll it into hot dog shape and keep it aside
Now roll one ball from the white dough into thin sheet and place the prepared cocoa dough inside it and cover it (as shown in pictorial) and roll it into thick logs.
The logs should be double the size of the bread pan.
Repeat the process with rest of the dough. Now cut the logs in the middle and arrange them randomly into the greased bread pan.
Cover it with greased plastic wrap and allow it to rise for 1 hour.
Now peel the plastic wrap and place it in the pre-heated oven at 180 ° C for about 30-35 minutes.
As soon as it is baked, apply butter over the bread. Allow it to cool naturally.
Slice it and serve.
